David Pequeño is the Director of Data & Artificial Intelligence (AI) Products at CenterPoint Energy, where he leads the strategy and delivery of enterprise data and AI products that support analytics, automation, and operational insight across the utility. His portfolio includes Helix (CenterPoint Energy’s Data Marketplace), Customer AI, Agentic AI, and Geospatial Analytics, all central to advancing the company’s data‑driven operating model.
With more than 25 years of experience in software delivery and systems architecture, David is known for bridging legacy utility operations with modern, cloud‑native platforms. Since joining CenterPoint Energy in 2006, he has played key roles in major industry initiatives, including Texas electric deregulation releases, the Advanced Metering System (AMS) deployment, and the design and rollout of the award‑winning Power Alert Service.
More recently, David has helped lead CenterPoint’s data and AI evolution, including the design of its Google Cloud–based medallion architecture and the productization of platforms such as the CNP Way, which embed standards, governance, and organizational knowledge into scalable AI‑driven workflows.
Prior to CenterPoint, David worked with organizations including NASA, VISA, eBay, and the U.S. government. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Houston–Clear Lake.
