2026 Challenge Preview

This year’s Hackathon will explore one of the utility industry’s most pressing challenges: creating grid capacity to support large-scale data center growth.

Teams will develop an innovative, multi-step approach using distributed energy resources, demand flexibility and other emerging solutions to maximize available grid capacity. Full challenge details, requirements and data will be revealed when project development begins on August 31—so start assembling your team now!

Estimated Time Commitment: Approximately 5–8 hours per participant each week during the four-week challenge period.
