As The Energy Authority’s director of Connected Analytics, Dr. Elizabeth Massey brings over 20 years of experience in research and development including leading-edge technology innovation and full lifecycle project delivery for the energy sector.
Dr. Massey has broad-based experience managing diverse and complex teams. Her specialties include demand-side energy research, data science, machine learning algorithms, computer vision techniques, software development and project management. She has also significant experience in strategic programs planning, having delivered on large-scale projects for the US Department of Defense and NASA.
Prior to Joining TEA, Dr. Massey served as the head of research at the International Energy Research Centre in Cork, Ireland, where she led a team of 28 research scientists and engineers. Along with her team, she performed energy research that translated business needs into research objectives, focusing on technology enablers that drive innovation for solving society’s grand challenges.
Dr. Massey received her Ph.D. in computer science from Lincoln University in Lincolnshire, UK, her master’s degree in Software Engineering and Mathematics from the Florida Institute of Technology and her bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems from Troy State University. She has authored several publications in the areas of image processing, renewable energy communities and a book chapter on citizen engagement. Just recently, Dr. Massey was invited to join the UN Commission for Europe Committee on Sustainable Energy, Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency Task force on Digitalization in Energy.
