The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the adopted standard by the Federal statistical agencies to classify business establishments. NAICS code-based market Segmentation can be instrumental to serve Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers with personalized marketing strategies, based on their common interests, customer behavior, etc. However, there are instances where small businesses may not have assigned NAICS code provided by 3rd party vendors. This data science project predicted 2-digit NAICS codes for C&I customers, which had missing NAICS code. Consumers Energy demonstrates that 2-digit NAICS codes having 20 different classes could be tailored for targeted marketing campaigns.
