Description

Duke Energy and the NGBU announced their Net Zero Methane Emission by 2030 goal in the Fall of 2020 and are one of the first in industry to make this commitment. They have acknowledged they cannot get there without transforming how they detect and mitigate fugitive methane emissions (pipeline leaks, intentional and un-intentional releases of gas, etc.). Duke Energy and NGBU have been embarking in heavy R&D leveraging Advanced Methane leak detection methods leveraging Satellite and Lidar and AI/ML to detect methane down to the ground level on our local distribution system.

This session discusses:

  • Use cases and practical applications in utilities (electric and gas) that can enable operational efficiencies and reduce truck rolls for inspection and detection related work
  • How these applications can help companies measure baseline methane emissions and reductions over time to achieve environmental and sustainability goals
