Gary’s career in analytics touches six decades, giving him a deep perspective on practicing a new profession like ours. He is the most senior data scientist at Salt River Project, serving in that role for thirteen years. He was named a Top 25 Thought Leader by UAI and is currently a leader of the Data Science Community.
He was the IT director for a large financial firm and a chip manufacturer and started two successful software companies but finds our industry more satisfying.
Gary studied radioisotope technology at Colorado School of Mines, mathematics and physics at Stanford, and received a research grant in data flow analysis from the United States Air Force. He holds a BA in mathematics and computer science from the University of California and an MS in data science from the University of Wisconsin.
