Hesen Peng is currently serving as a data scientist at BrillIT, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative. Hesen holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from Emory University and B.S. in statistics from Fudan University. Hesen started his career in the tech field through data science roles at Airbnb, Databricks, Uber, Microsoft, and Amazon, significantly contributing to data science and machine learning since the beginning of the field. Hesen has authored a book on real-time machine learning systems and various academic papers. He actively contributes to open-source projects like Scikit Learn. With his data science and statistics background, Hesen works on multiple fronts of projects in demand response, forecasting, and machine learning in the electric utility space. Hesen was recognized as one of Top 25 Utility Analytics Thought Leaders in 2024. In his spare time, Hesen plays with his two sons, and enjoys 3D printing and woodworking.
