Qing Wei, the Director of Data Engineering at the New York Power Authority (NYPA), is responsible for overseeing a team of data analytics professionals, including BI reporting developers and data scientists. Together, they provide comprehensive data analytics services to the entire company. Their work includes utilizing machine learning models to enhance hydro generation forecasts, predict project labor hours, and assess the impact of transmission congestions on revenues. Prior to joining NYPA, Qing Wei led a small team of data scientists at the NYC Department of Buildings, where they developed predictive models to identify unsafe buildings and constructions. She earned a PhD in social science, specializing in quantitative data analysis.
