Description

Bidirectional electric vehicles (BiEV) have the potential to increase grid and home energy resiliency. Utility customers may even benefit financially from the bidirectional interconnect.

Oncor is studying a number of power quality and vehicle telemetric measures to observe the effect of bidirectional assets on local infrastructure from data captured in the summer of 2023. Oncor partners with Toyota to explore the setup of the microgrid where the study is taking place, the findings of the study, and the utility customer outcomes. Oncor’s discussion includes both islanded and non-islanded state use cases along with a range of scenarios and battery states.

Session Takeaways:

  • Potential for grid/home resiliency
  • How the customer benefits financially from BiEV interconnect
  • Oncor and Toyota relationship, customer focus, improvements in Oncor’s customer experience
