Date & Time

Description

In order to reduce wildfire risk and take on the challenge of climate change, in July of 2021 Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) announced the largest electric undergrounding effort in the United States history - 10,000 miles. This session will allow you to go behind the curtain and understand how PG&E plans to go from less than 100 miles of undergrounding in a year, to more than 1,200 miles annually.

Session Takeaways:

  • Understanding how undergrounding aligns with PG&E’s long-term strategy and financial goals.
  • Understanding the process followed and analysis conducted in order to select which miles will be undergrounded.
  • Reviewing the analytical tools built to help accelerate and automate processes, enabling a more than 10x increase in scoping, planning, permitting, construction, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Plans for how the tools developed to support the undergrounding (and lessons learned along the way) can be leveraged by other PG&E programs.
